Peter renews his call to end Asylum Hotels

During a debate in Parliament, local MP, Peter Bedford, echoed the frustrations of local residents that their taxes are being spent housing illegal immigrants in hotels, instead of being invested into vital public services like the NHS and the armed forces.

People up and down the nation are facing higher energy bills, more expensive food shops, and less disposable income, all while the Government continues to spend £6 million pounds a day on those who do not respect the rule of law.

In his speech, Peter outlined that only the Conservatives have a tough and detailed strategy to tackle this growing problem. They would:

  1. Leave the European Convention on Human Rights
  2. Withdraw from the European Convention Against Trafficking
  3. Repeal the Human Rights Act

These outdated frameworks have been used to block deportations, crippling the UK’s ability to control its borders.

They would also introduce a dedicated Removals Force which would banish 150,000 illegal immigrants every year and deport anyone arriving illegally within 7 days.

Enough is enough. It’s time to stop spending billions of taxpayers’ money on housing illegal immigrants in swanky hotels with free room and board. We are literally rewarding people for breaking the law.

Like many of my constituents, I am fed up with this.

I will continue to do all I can to pressure the Government to get a grip of this crisis, and start putting British people first instead of foreign criminals.
