People up and down the country are struggling, and despite the hard-working nature of Mid Leicestershire’s residents, the economic picture remains bleak. In fact, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) last week reported that business confidence has fallen for five consecutive quarters; and the Royal Institution for Chartered Surveyors (RICS) have expressed deep concerns about ‘significant weakening’ in the housing market.
That’s why Peter asked the Prime Minister if he would rule out any increases to property tax in the upcoming ‘Nightmare Before Christmas Budget’.
Afterwards, Peter said “the Prime Minister has lost control of his Chancellor, who has lost control of the economy. I don’t want to see my constituents, who already are the hardest workers in the country, continue to pay more, for less.” “The Government must stop taxing aspiration, and remember they are accountable to the electorate, and not their union paymasters. Peter recognises the difficulties many local residents are facing, and he will continue to do all he can to make Mid Leicestershire and even better place to live, work, visit and invest.
