It is currently Diabetes Week, and I was pleased to speak to Diabetes UK in UK Parliament last week to hear more about this serious condition.
Living with diabetes can be extremely challenging, and I was shocked to learn that in Mid Leicestershire alone there are more than 6,600 people who have been diagnosed with it.
This is especially worrying as Diabetes can be a gateway to other conditions and across the UK leads to more than 980 stroke, 180 amputations, 680 heart attacks and 3,230 heart failures each week.
Thankfully, the majority of diabetes complications can be prevented through education, medications, technology and support they need to manage that.
