Today, Peter introduced a bill in parliament which, if passed, would force the Government to give local residents the final say on any local government reorganisation plans.
Under the plans, Leicester City Council has proposed expanding its boundaries and taking in swathes of rural Leicestershire, ruining the unique identities of many Mid Leicestershire villages and town.
Worst of all, residents have not been properly consulted on the plans, despite much local opposition.
Peter has been doing all he can to ensure local residents are properly consulted, from hand delivering a petition signed by thousands across Leicestershire to the Leicester City Mayor, Sir Peter Soulsby, to holding a debate in Parliament to repeat his calls for proper consultation of local residents.
Peter’s fight against an expanded Leicester City Council area continues and he will keep his constituents updated on this important campaign.
