With today being bonfire night, and Christmas and New Year celebrations right around the corner, Peter has received a lot of correspondence from constituents with concerns about the effect fireworks noise has on their pets.
That’s why he held a meeting with Battersea Dogs and Cat in Parliament today to discuss what more can be done to protect our pets from fireworks.
The charity has numerous resources available for pet owners in relation to fireworks which can be found here: https://www.battersea.org.uk/pet-advice/dog-care-advice/dogs-and-fireworks?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=9730906230&gclid=Cj0KCQiAiKzIBhCOARIsAKpKLAOeaVZeviaYO8QndcDFwMf7eB7peZRjW8UZu0pKgzIz9rDS_Zu3OLkaAjABEALw_wcB
As a cat owner myself, I am very keen to do all I can to help protect animals.
I know just how anxious our pets can get from fireworks noise, which is why I’m pleased Battersea Dogs and Cats have an array of free guidance on offer for owners.
Last month, I also called on the Government to review the sentencing guidelines for people who abuse animals.
Peter is keen to hear your views on what more the Government should be doing to protect our pets, and care for animals up and down the country, so please do fill out his survey below.
