On Tuesday 21st October Peter asked the Health Secretary, Wes Streeting, to review the adequacy and fairness of the Vaccine Damage Payment Scheme.
Speaking in the chamber Peter said
My constituent Kelly Hatfield sadly lost her father, Ken Purnell, as a result of a Covid-19 vaccination.
The family have received a Vaccine Damage Payment…
… Yet the sum, that has not increased since 2007, falls far short of the loss… trauma… and long-term financial impact that families face.
Can the Secretary of State explain why this one-off payment has not been inflation-adjusted and will he commit to reviewing both its adequacy and fairness?
It was disappointing that Minister, Ashley Dalton, decided to politicise this sensitive and important issue.
Peter has pledged to continue pressing the government for proper answers.
