Yesterday, on the floor of the House of Commons Peter made it extremely clear to the Home Secretary that urgent action is needed to stop the small boats from traversing our waters.
Peter believes that for too long the British people have been ignored and if something isn’t done soon, not only will crossings continue to rise, but it could very well lead to a political revolution of which our great nation has managed to avoid thus far.
He outlined the three steps that government must take to fix the problem once and for all:
1. The UK must extricated itself from the 1951 Convention on Refugees
2. The removal of the ECHR from UK law, and
3. The use of military assets to enforce the sovereignty of British Waters from incursions.
Speaking after his intervention, Peter Said:
“My constituents are rightly concerned about the ever-increasing number of small boats, filled mostly with undocumented men of fighting age, crossing our waters every day.
For much of history our great island nation ruled the seas, and now we do not appear to be able to keep rubber dinghies at bay. The British people are being let down by the Government’s unwillingness to take the necessary action to stop them in their tracks.
It’s time to take drastic action now, before it’s too late!”
Peter will continue to be a strong voice for his constituents and the British people on this ongoing crisis, and will do all he can to pressure the Government to live up to its primary function; keeping its citizens safe.
